I grew us as a Texas girl with her Quarter Horses. I then had a Morgan and Trahkener.I first saw a Fjord at a driving show I visited in Minnesota. I found out later it was Susan Keating showing one of Gene Bauer's Fjords. Like most people, it was love at first sight. In 1995, I bought Hjerte Barn (Norwegian for "apple of one's eye" or "heart child") and better known as Tank, who was three years old. We learned to drive together and he has been a great riding/trail horse. Tank has appeared as a Fjord ambassador in Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico in horse fairs, shows, combined driving events, and just as himself. He is now retired at age 31. In 2004, I added Starfire Chiron to our family. He is known as Teddy. Teddy began his public career as a four-year old in November 2007 at his first ADT.

I filled out a two-year term as a Board Member starting in January 2006, just in time to help plan and participate in the 25th Anniversary in Winona, MN. I served on the Board again in 2015 but had to resign due to medical issues. In early 2023, I was asked to serve on a temporary Finance Committee to help with strategic budget planning for the 2023 year. In May, I was asked to fill a board position caused by a resignation and in June, 2023 I was asked to become Treasurer to fill out the year. I was elected for a 3 year term in 2024 and will chair the Promotion Committee.

It has been a privilege and pleasure to serve on the Board and has brought me many new friends. I am looking forward to furthering the NFHR’s goals and serving the great people who own Fjords. Please feel free to contact me at any time. And, of course, if you are in the southern New Mexico area, please visit us at High Mesa Fjords. . . where geldings thrive!
